Science
Overview
Learners will study Biology, Chemistry and Physics concurrently developing their understanding as the course progresses. As the units in Biology, Chemistry and Physics are similar to the Trilogy course, learners have a range of options, which can be tailored to suit each individual’s needs.

KS3
During KS3 learners explore a wealth of Science topics. Learners are provided with authentic choices to enable them to engage actively with a learning model that works best for them. Learners are introduced to the topics they can explore through a series of sessions in which they experience a number of practicals, demonstrations, discussions and debates that will provide them with a secure introduction to specified topics. Learners have the opportunity to further explore areas of particular interest through individual guidance and support provided by their Science teacher. During these sessions learners have the opportunity to opt into practicals, workshops or book further 1:2:1 support through My Learning Choices. Over the two years learners gain an appreciation of the whole range of Science disciplines providing an effective foundation for further study in even greater depth at KS4.
GCSE
In cohort 9, youngsters undertake a skills analysis in class that provides them with a specific guide of study. During this year, cohort 9 study all three sciences up to Foundation level.
In cohort 10, learners move onto the remaining units which are studied at a higher level. At the end of cohort 10, learners sit a mock paper. Based on the skills analysis undertaken, end of topic assessments, the cohort 10 mock paper, teacher assessments and discussion with the learner and their family, an appropriate programme of study is agreed upon for C11, whether to follow the Triple Science path or Trilogy course.
